Prof.A.K.Vasishtha, a graduate from banaras Hindu University obtained his Bachler's,Master's and Doctorate degree in 1956,1958 and 1961 respectively. He joined the chemical engineering faculty of the BHU in 1961 and after teaching for 4 years,he left for U.S.A. in 1965 to work as post-doctoral Fellow at Rutgers-The state University of New Jersey. In 1968,he joined the corporate R&D group of Pepsico Inc located at the Rutgers campus at New Brunswick,New Jersey as a Project Leader.After returning to India in the year 1969,Dr.Vasishtha rejoined the BHU and thereafter in 1972 he joined the R&D group of Tata Oil Mills Co. Ltd. Bombay.In 1974 he joined as Professor and Head of Department of Oil and Paint Technology,HBTI,Kanpur.Later in the year 1983 he was appointed as the Director of this Institute from where he retired in 1996.After working as industrial consultant for about three years,hejoined as Director,MPEC,Kanpur in 1999.In August 2002, he joined as Director,Bharat Institute of Technology,Meerut and after one year was re-designated as Director General cum Advisor at the same institution. .

Professor Vasishtha is an eminent educationist and researcher enjoying a high international reputation in his field.He was a member of Indian delegation visiting U.S.A. to study soy processing industries in 1985.He has guided 20 Ph.D.s and 42 M.Tech.s and has published about 70 research papers.He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers(India) and the Oil Technologists'Assiociation of India(OTAI).He is also a past president of the OTAI.He is s recipient of Mahanarain Gold Medal of the OTAI in 1966,distinguished Alumnus Award of the Institute of Technology,BHU in 1995 and prestgious J.G.Kane Memorial Award in 1996.He has been associated with several national committees.
